Shimmery Cards with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magicals

Why not join me for a card making class this weekend at Bella Paperie? We will be playing with Magicals watercolour powders from Lindy’s Stamp Gang to create a beautifully shimmery set of cards. As always, my class will be technique packed and I’ll share how to incorporate the pop of colour that Magicals are famous for!

The brilliance of Magicals may be a little too bright for some (is that possible?) so I’ll share how to tone it down to suit personal tastes. Magicals are perfect for someone who wants to dabble in watercolours that shimmer and I’ll teach you how to colour with them in a lovely, loose style.

Supplies to bring:

  • Usual cardmaking kit including dauber, wet glue, foam adhesive & sharp scissors
  • Black permanent ink (not Stazon)
  • Clear Versamark ink
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Spray bottle of water
  • Non-stick craft mat
  • Baby wipes
  • Aquash brush or small paint brush & water container
  • Ruler, pencil & rubber
  • Scoreboard/bone folder

Class will be held, Saturday January 13, 9.30am – 12.30pm, cost is $27.50. Bella Paperie is located at Shop 33, 302 South Pine Road, Brendale. Please phone 3205 5911 to book.

Stampendous October Blog Hop!

Each month I am creating a project with brand new Stampendous stamps to inspire you. You also have a chance to win them via the monthly blog hop competition run by The Stencil Specialists, the Australian wholesaler for Stampendous.

I love nothing better than getting a brand new stamp inky…even better when it comes with its own dies so I don’t need to do any fussy cutting! This month we are using the Seated Elf stamp & die set and I just love how cute this elf is. I thought he would look perfect sitting on a present, just ready to decide if you have been naughty or nice.

The images were coloured with Ecoline markers and I had stamped an extra pair of ‘bows’ to use for layering. They were trimmed a little extra, cutting off parts of the bow and attached with foam tape. I like the dimension this gives to the card.

So have you been good?

Why not visit all the blogs on the hop, leave a comment on each October blog hop post and you could be in the running to win this cute set.

Stampendous September Blog Hop!

Each month I am creating a project with brand new Stampendous stamps to inspire you. You also have a chance to win them via the monthly blog hop competition run by The Stencil Specialists, the Australian wholesaler for Stampendous.

This month we are using the Owl Clock stamp and Julie has given us an extra challenge – make it Christmassy! I hope my card inspires you to try something different with your stamps.

I stamped the Owl Clock image twice and coloured all of one image with Ecoline markers. For the second image, I knew I wanted to layer the owl and one of the wings from the clock so these were also coloured, fussy cut then layered over the first image with foam tape.

Hint – always colour the bottom image as parts of it will peek through the layering. This also gives you a chance to test colour combos.

A quick swish of blue watercolour, a sprinkling of glitter and some ‘stars’ drawn in with a white gel pen and the image is done. I added a title to one of the books with a fine black pen to strengthen the ‘Christmas’ theme. I felt the image needed some extra sparkle so went over the owls wings with a glitter marker, I love the subtle shimmer.

Ecoline markers are dye based making them great for colouring as they can be blended and used with a water pen to give a range of different hues and tones.

Stampendous August Blog Hop!

Edited: competition extended to August 31.

Each month I am creating a project with brand new Stampendous stamps to inspire you. You also have a chance to win them via the monthly blog hop competition run by The Stencil Specialists, the Australian wholesaler for Stampendous.

This month we are using the Autumn Points stamp, I love the dotty swirls that surround the image which makes the stamp perfect to use as a feature all on its own.

I’ve created two cards to inspire you –

For this one, I created a drippy background using Distress Oxide inks and stamped it with the Autumn Points image. The short end was torn to give a bit of texture and all of the edges were sponged with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

I spritzed a second piece of cardstock with Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays, then stamped just the leaves & seedpod a second time.

Once trimmed, I gave them a bit of shape and glued just the centre of the leaves in place on my card. This allowed the tips to lift slightly. I love how the Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays add a touch of beautiful Autumn colour and shimmer.

For my second card, I used a background made previously to stamp over. The background was made using shaving cream and dye inks and has a wonderful mottled texture. It’s quick to put a card like this together when you have a nice pile of backgrounds already made up.

Don’t forget to also pop over to the other blogs to check out what they have created for the hop!

Stampendous July Blog Hop!

Each month I am creating a project with brand new Stampendous stamps to inspire you. You also have a chance to win them via the monthly blog hop competition run by The Stencil Specialists, the Australian wholesaler for Stampendous.

This month we are using the Pine Ornaments stamp designed by Fran Seiford and is a sweet trio of Christmas ornaments just waiting for you to embellish them. As we didn’t run a hop last month, Julie has kindly created a bumper giveaway this month to celebrate the launch of the new Stampendous catalogue.

In honour of the bumper prize, I’ve created three cards to inspire you –

The first features a touch of red fine glitter. I’ve stamped the image with a grey ink to give more of a contrast to the luscious red & gold ribbon and sparkle from the glitter.

Next is a cute tag with the image embossed with Stampendous white embossing powder. I love how well this powder works on fine images like this one.

Lastly a card using soft pastels with pops of purple. I’ve also stamped this one with grey ink to give the design a subtle look.

Don’t forget to also pop over to the other blogs to check out what they have created for the hop! This month we say goodbye to Dot Leathbridge from Ink Art Designs as she takes on a new venture. This means we say hello and welcome to Tracy Moloney from Tracy’s Crafty Adventures.
